Over Christmas, players in Fortnite could not only open gifts, but also wreak havoc with new weapons from Chapter 4. One, however, was still in the game despite a bug and will only be fixed weeks later. We’ll show you what broke.
What was that bug? Many new weapons came into play in Fortnite with Chapter 4 Season 1, including the brute shockwave hammer. With this club, players can not only move quickly, but also devastatingly strike and deal damage.
The problem, however, was that a nasty bug had crept in that made the Shockwave Hammer even more mobile than it should be. The result was that players jumped around like bouncy balls and wiped out opponents with ease. Here’s a video from reddit of what the bug looked like:

Bug causes trouble, but Epic Games is on vacation
When was the bug fixed? On January 9th the hammer was deactivated and on January 10th the hotfix finally came into play. Now considering how long Epic Games has taken to fix the bug, it seems unusual for the team.
For weeks, players had to deal with some tormentors from the community who were enjoying the bug to the fullest. Despite that, the delayed fix also had some good reasons.
Anyone who has been playing Fortnite for a long time will know that Epic Games is on vacation for Christmas. The team is thus very thinly staffed and errors are addressed late or not at all at this time. Additionally, how Gamespot reported, the hammer is also required for many challenges that are only temporarily active.

However, this hammer’s fix is just the beginning. Epic Games also has a collaboration with My Hero Academia, who also have a broken weapon. This has been disabled since late 2022 and players still don’t know when the fix will be released. It remains to be seen whether the team will also reveal new information in this regard.
