Recent leaks from Fortnite suggest that a new Marvel character could be coming to the game soon, and that could be the popular Sam Wilson, who currently holds the title of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If confirmed, this will be the first opportunity for Fortnite players to play as the first black person to become Captain America.
Sam Wilson’s character first appeared as the Falcon, a minor character in Captain America issue #117 in 1969, and slowly rose to prominence with powers that included flying with mechanical wings and communicating with birds. Sam Wilson will star in the upcoming Captain America: The New World Order, which is due out in 2024.
According to leaker Shiina, there is good reason to believe that Sam Wilson could be added to Fortnite soon. Data analysis revealed a new audio file named “SoundLibrary_Glider_Elevate_Wings”, which implies that a winged character may be added, and an unused Captain America set was added to the update. These two pieces of evidence suggest that there will be a flying character that uses the Captain America set, and Sam Wilson is the only Marvel character to fit that description. Shiina is a trusted author with over a million social media followers and has previously revealed information about Fortnite’s first-person mode long before it was added to the game.
It’s still too early to confirm the veracity of the leak, and Epic Games hasn’t officially announced the new skin at the time of this information’s release. However, Marvel crossovers are not uncommon for Fortnite, as more than 50 character skins from the Marvel Universe were released in the game on July 4 last year, including the original Captain America Steve Rogers.
