Fortnite was able to score with cool new content at the start of Chapter 4. However, many players have been struggling with their nerves for weeks. Bugs, disabled weapons and server crashes are now the order of the day and Epic Games just can’t keep up with the fixes.

What’s going on in Fortnite? Fortnite started Chapter 4 in December with cool new features like parkour or better graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5. Despite this, the start was riddled with many problems:

  • Weapons have been disabled
  • Servers crash and there are often problems logging in
  • Lots of bugs that make playing almost impossible

In addition, Epic Games was on a break over Christmas. The problems could thus continue to proliferate over the holidays and players were only left with broken nerves.

Now that Epic Games is back, the team immediately focused on fixing the bugs. An update was supposed to straighten out some things in the game, but left only more problems.

Which bugs have been fixed? The shockwave hammer and parkour feature were temporarily disabled, but came back into play with the hotfix on January 10th. The hammer works perfectly again, but the parkour doesn’t. Reddit user StunningPaul shows you exactly what came back broken:

Players are not only thrown back meters when trying to overcome an obstacle, it is also almost impossible to pull yourself up on sloping ceilings. If you try, you will either be thrown away or thrown back onto the ground.

So far the feature is still in the game, however it is clear that something is wrong and that it is very likely a bug. It remains to be seen when Epic Games will address these bugs. The servers also had hiccups on the evening of the patch (via twitter.com), which lasted for more than two hours. But these are not the only errors and problems.

What else is broken? The broken things in Fortnite include not only the bad server connections and constant crashes, but also the removed Deku Smash weapon. This was deactivated without a word by Epic Games and can no longer be found in the game.

The Battle Pass also has an annoying bug. Items purchased with Battle Pass Stars can be repurchased, but will waste the number of Stars invested in the purchase.

Fortnite, in its current state, resembles a debris field. It is also completely open when Epic will take the necessary steps to eliminate the errors.

When might a fix be due? Epic Games has so far been silent as to when an exact fix could be due. However, leakers have found out that the next major update will be on January 17th (via twitter.com) is in front of the door. So it is very likely that the developers will fix some bugs with this update.
