Today, January 18th, Fortnite servers are going down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance work is used to load a hotfix onto the servers.

What’s happening in Fortnite today? The servers are shut down again in Fortnite. However, this is a major update that may fix some gameplay issues and may bring new items into play. You can find out when you can gamble again with us.

Update, 2:50 p.m.: The error should be fixed and you can now log in as usual. If you have problems again, you can find out more about them here.

We have listed all the important patch notes for update 23.20 for you.

What new content does the hotfix bring?

A new Gadget – The Falcon Drone: The Falcon Drone is a new item that can be found on the ground, in chests, and in Oathbound Chests and Supply Drops. You can use it to scout out the situation, mark enemies from afar or even go looting. If a teammate is killed, you can use the drone to transport their body to a safe area.

Be careful though, once you control the drone you will be unable to move your player and you will be more vulnerable to attacks from enemies.

New Reality Augments: Epic Games has even brought 5 new reality extensions into play with Patch 23.20. These are as follows:

  • Shali’s Treasure: You will receive a treasure map that will lead you to buried treasure.
  • Shotgun Specialist: Hitting an enemy with your shotgun restores your health.
  • Rarity Value: Common and uncommon weapons gain lifesteal on kills.
  • Zero Thrust: You briefly gain the Zero Thrust ability when you break an enemy’s shields.
  • Danger Pro: When your shields break, you gain a short duration of health regeneration and increased movement speed.

Upgrade for Hired Players: NPCs that you hire for gold bars will now also get into your vehicle and ride with you.

Dynamic 3D Resolution on PC: If you gamble on the PC, you can activate the dynamic 3D resolution on your PC since update 23.20. This adjusts your frame rate and your resolution to suit your setup.

Competition Notes:

  • The Rarity Value reality augmentation is not available in Competitive game modes.

Important bug fixes:

  • Fixed the bug due to which Dekus Smash had to be disabled in Battle Royale and Null Build modes. Deku’s Smash has been re-enabled in these modes.
  • Fixed climbing bugs where players would sometimes be thrown across the entire map.
  • Fixed a bug where in some cases sprinting was not possible during an entire match.
  • The reality enhancements can once again be unlocked via teammates.
  • Players can again deal consistent damage to objects with their pickaxes.
  • Players can now select reality augments while on a dirt bike.
  • Players can now use the Guardian Shield while in the back of an OG Bear or on a dirt bike.
