Epic Games has released the trailer for the new season of Fortnite, which kicks off today. In the third season of the fourth chapter, also known as the “WILDS” update, players will explore the ancient ruins that have fallen under the surface of the earth as a result of the earthquakes that occur in the game. The game also features predators, creepers, and Optimus Prime.
The trailer, which you can watch below, gives us a glimpse of some very jungle-like areas. In it we see an exquisite selection of weapons, as well as large vines that can be ground for quick and easy movement around the map. Players will be able to climb to the tops of hidden jungles, ride predators to get through terrain quickly, and slide through the mud for increased speed and camouflage.
As for new weapons, it looks like we’ll have access to the Thermal DMR, FlapJack Rifle, and Optimus Prime’s own Cybertronian cannon.
The trailer description also mentions new flora and fauna that players will be able to use, such as Bomb Flower, Stink Flower and Slurp Plants. It can be assumed that the first one gives you explosives that you can throw at enemies. The Stink Flower is probably a low DPS AoE weapon, while the Slurp Plant will give you a quick health (or shield) charge when needed.
A kinetic boomerang and a wild wasp pitcher are also mentioned. It looks like these are two brand new weapons or items that players will be able to use to their advantage. Details on how they work have not yet been released.
Fortnite is currently undergoing server maintenance in preparation for the release of the update. .
