The standard Fortnite map is an island on which all in-game events take place. In addition to it, there are locations created by users – the so-called. custom cards. Any user can create them using the Fortnite-Creative mode.
Island maps
The island map is the main location in PVP. Players are dropped onto it from a flying bus and a royal battle unfolds on it. The island was repeatedly subjected to changes, during which new objects were added, old ones were removed.
The old version
The map of the 1st chapter of the 2nd season can be considered old.
It contained the following locations:
- Mountain town.
- A weeping grove.
- Lonely lake.
- Holly fences.
- Outlet.
- Nectar valley.
- Safe coast.
- Fatal farm.
- Pleasant park.
- Beach village.
- Giant cooling towers.
- Prickly keys.
Compared to the previous season, the map has undergone major changes.
Changes in the new map
After the launch of Chapter 2 of Season 2, the Fortnite map has been changed.
In the new version, the developers have added a number of new places.
The old ones were kept.
List of added locations:
- Helicopter landing pad. Located in the east of the island. It is a cave, inside which there is a pier and a helipad. You can fly out through the breach at the top.
- Oil Platform. It is located in the sea near the Nectar Basin. Can be used as a landing pad. Valuable loot often spawns on the platform, so it makes sense to land there.
- Yacht. Spawns randomly in the sea. Offers good loot.
- House on Shark Island. A new building has appeared on the rock.
Added smaller objects that do not affect the gameplay so much.
Experience card for season 2
At new locations, you can get additional experience points, which are used to upgrade the battle pass.
To do this, just visit the places that the developers added.
Points are awarded not only for the first visit. If you appear at the location for the second time, they will still be given out.
Also, additional experience – 2000 points – can be obtained for passing through the iron bridges located:
- between Pleasant Park and Beach Village;
- between the Sharp Springs and Pleasant Park;
- near Fatal Farm.
How to use custom maps for Fortnite
Custom maps are created by the players themselves using the Fortnite-Creative mode. Among them, you can find cool ones, for example, Dead by Fortlight IV: Halloween (code for 3 players – 9908-7976-0032, for 4 – 5809-4686-3899) or Hyrule Temple (0961-5033-7392).
To join one of them, you will need:
- Switch to Fortnite-Creative mode.
- Press “Start”.
- Wait for the download to complete.
- Approach the orange rift.
- Rotate 180°.
- Approach another fault with the inscription “Recommended”.
- Use the interaction key (E).
- Enter the card code.
You can also create custom maps yourself. They are suitable if 2-3 friends are going to play. After all, the area can be created for your own style of play or according to your needs.

To connect to any custom map, you will need a code – a combination of numbers that identifies the location.
pvp maps
PvP maps are designed for online battles between two teams of players.

Some maps are designed specifically for training reaction and parkour skills, warming up and preparing for the game.

Mini-games for Fortnite
Fortnite has mini-games created by gamers in the Fortnite-Creative mode. You can use them in the same way as custom maps – with the help of a code.

Quality parody of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
It is an analogue of the location from the game of the same name for the PlayStation 4. It is limited by buildings on all sides. It has various obstacles that must be overcome on a gravity skateboard.

It is a location that imitates the game Portal 2. The main difference from the original is the absence of portals through which you can move to other places. The rest of the setting is completely preserved.

The Cube with many traps
The player is placed in a huge concrete cube divided into numerous rooms. The main task is to get out. It is complicated by a large number of traps placed inside the cube. To escape, you can use any items found. To free yourself, you need to reach the hangar with a plane on which you can fly out of the structure.
A new version of Cube is currently in development. It is the third in a row and should be released in a few months. The creators promise a change in the internal structure of the map and new traps.
